# Updating

> Update the API, nodes and servers.

The install script also updates: run again, it replaces the binaries, the panel and the
official prefabs, without touching the configuration, secrets or certificate authority. Database
migrations run when the API starts.

## The API and panel

```bash theme={null}
curl -fsSLo install.sh https://get.kuroctl.com/api
sudo bash install.sh
```

## A node

An enrolled node is not re-enrolled: no token or fingerprint needed.

```bash theme={null}
curl -fsSLo install.sh https://get.kuroctl.com/node
sudo bash install.sh
```

> [!NOTE]
>
> Update the API before the nodes. For a specific version, add `--version X.Y.Z`. A machine with
> both roles: `sudo bash install.sh api node`.

`--full` is only useful on first install; run again, it reapplies the same settings without
breaking anything.

## Servers

A new prefab version is not applied to existing servers on its own. The panel shows "Update
available"; the preview shows what changes (settings, ports, image) and the update can back up
the server first. Several servers at once: server list, "Update available" filter, then
**Actions › Update**.
